These Bhut Jolokia Pepper seeds were grown in total isolation (no other pepper plants within 1 mile or more) to insure absolute genetic purity. They were grown in the Hottest summer in Georgia in over 100 years so they are a extreamly strong strain. Not greenhouse grown. The parent seeds came from plants that tested over 1,000,000 (1 million) SKU's. Be careful from whom you buy your seeds from. Many, if not most Bhut Jolokia Pepper seed producers, do not grow their peppers in total isolation. This will ALWAYS diminish the heat characteristics (SHU's) of the Bhut Jolokia Pepper. The Georgia Department of Agriculture found that these Bhut Jolokia Pepper seeds had a germination rate of 85%, the same as the Bhut Jolokia seed sold by the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. Some Jolokia seeds pods from India are not true to strain since there are so many kinds. Be careful with other seed companies some seed pods are also heat treated from foreign countries making seeds infertil outherwise they would need a seed import permit for each shipment. I purchased 50+, and actually received 72 seeds! I planted and protected them from our storms, and with Florida's heat and humidity, I have had an excellent germination rate of 89% - 64 out of 72 seeds have germinated so far. About 1/2 of these seeds germinated in 2-3 weeks; the rest took a full 6 weeks, so I may have a few stragglers still to come. I have already moved about 25 plants up into 4" pots. You might also want to include a recommendation in your add to wear gloves while handling the SEED, too. I have planted a lot of pepper seeds over the years, but these seeds actually left the palm of my hand burning for almost 6 hours after planting them! Thank you for making these seeds available! | Same as above but two plants 4" to 5" + tall, Plant should start growing blossoms in a about 3 weeks. I find them real easy to grow if done properly. I use miricle grow potting mix and 14 -14 -14 liquid fertilizer weekly. Click the thumb nail pic to see Bhut Jolokia growing in my hydro - nut. A bamboo and coconut growing system using only coir (ground coconut fiber) as a growing media. Plants do not come in a Coconut, thats part of the Hydro-Nut. |
